You’re simply the best.  Better than all the rest.

I’ve seen the sadness in a guest’s face.  I’ve seen the fear in their face when asking for a free lunch.  I’ve seen hopelessness, anger, a body empty of choices.  I’ve seen myself walk through hell lost and scared.

I’ve seen a lot of greatness in humanity these past 6 week, 8 weeks.  I’ve seen friends walk in with a thousand dollars for the staff.  I’ve seen strangers call in and pay for meals they have no intention of ever being made or eaten.  I’ve seen loved ones pay for a meal they don’t need to pay for.  I’ve seen love in ways I didn’t know was possible.  I’ve seen a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams.  I’ve seen how incredible you are to the world, my world, and how life is better because of you.

I believe in the good of mankind.  I believe in greatness.  I believe that together we can find our way out of hell.  I believe that my friends will reopen.  I believe that the sun will shine.  I believe that the moon will be there for me.  I believe that the love is all you need. I believe that yesterday was incredible.  I believe that today will be incredible.  And I sure as hell believe in tomorrow.  I believe in you.  I believe in me.  I believe in us.

Today’s quote actually comes from not a song.  It’s from the tv show Schitt’s Creek and it’s from David and Stevie.  And it’s just wonderful.

Stevie: Okay, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that you were probably surrounding yourself with the wrong people, and we both know that Patrick is not that kind of person. Also, I know everything about you, about your history, your family, and I'm still here.

David: I think you're my best friend.

Stevie: You think? [tuts]

David: Well, I can't know for sure, because I'm realizing now that I don't think I've ever really had one.

Stevie: Okay, well, if we're being honest, I don't think I've ever had one, either.
