What is busy, I mean for real, what is busy. Its an action? The dictionary says when its used at an adjective it means having a great deal to do. When as a verb it means keep occupied. Maybe you are busy at work, calling clients and building tax reports? Maybe you are busy at home, keeping occupied to slow the mind down. i cleaned the pantry, fridge, music room two weeks ago. I needed to keep busy. Its a chaos out there, sometimes we keep busy to calm the chaos. Im not expert (I just make sandwiches), but distraction and busy can be helpful.
We are not busy here, were going to finish the month down somewhere around 38-42% from last year. But we have things to do, and im grateful for that. We have been learning, adapting, challenging ourselves as to what we are capable of doing here. We did this before, we will do it again. We have walked up to a wall and thought, nope, cant climb that, cant happen. And then step by step suddenly you climbed the impossible. I remember back in 2012 when msu football came to town and we fed 3,511 people up at the stadium. We did that, we did the work, we kept busy with planning, and pulled off a massive accomplishment. Kat ran a double sided buffet table, one of four in a 1200 person tent, by herself. Shes a professional, a champion of amazing. She just did it because it had to be done. not today wall, not today.
We are figuring out how to cater down here at the deli in the middle of a pandemic. We love double sided buffet tables, chafing dishes, hot boxes full of yummy food, talking to your guests as they grab an amazing meal. Cant do it right now, okay, adapt. Keep busy and keep discovering. We have learned how to do a catering for 100 people, hot breakfast, packaged individually, and keep it hot. Two years ago we learned how to grill 300 grilled cheese sandwiches at one time off site. You figure out how to keep busy, stay moving. How to create.
