The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky.  Also on the faces of people going by.  I see friends shaking (social distancing) hands, saying how do you do.

They’re only saying.  I love you.

When the new version of PHP started up 6 weeks ago or so, it was my intention to carry the weight of the costs alone.  It’s what Tim would do.  You take care of the people around you, your family, and those in need.  It’s the right thing to do.

And yet, I’m not carrying all the weight, so many of you have contributed to this ideal we have here.  People who gave what they could, some what they couldn’t, some just wrote cards of encouragement.  I haven’t mentioned anyone by name on purpose, I choose to respect their privacy and giving, but there are a lot that I wish to say thank you to publicly.  Please know that every card, every envelope, every everything brings me to tears at your kindness.  You are such amazing humans, and it’s helping me move through some emotions.

I spoke with one person though about his and his wife contribution.  It was significant, but that was not the part that got me speechless.  It was the message behind it that, even now a week later I’m struggling to put into words..so please bare with me as I attempt.  Doug and his wife Michelle wanted to contribute in the memory of their daughter who passed away at the age of 5 in 1998.  As I try to write words, nothing does justice to the pain of losing a child. So I’ll choose to say this about the Sias family, your kindness, honor, love, and spirit define what People Helping People is all about.    A photo of Julia now permanently resides on my desk.  Later this week, when one of the PHP meals is given to a guest, there will be a little card inside talking about the family and their beautiful daughter Julia.  Talking about how these amazing people wanted you to have a meal today in her memory.   I wish you peace and comfort knowing that your contribution to our community is cherished not only by us here at Max and Emily’s, but by everyone involved in the program, and the guests that rely on it every day.  You are wonderful wonderful humans.  I’m honored by your kindness.

Today’s quote comes from a song about hope and love.  Because the Sias family makes this scary world a lot more hopeful today.

I see trees of green, red roses too

I see them bloom for me and you

And I think to myself what a wonderful world
