What a beautiful morning. I was on M20 headed into town, the sun rising above the clouds shining down. The pink and orange lighting up the sky. And then my friend the moon to the south, crescent moon, up there saying hello. I stood in the back parking lot just watching the world, finding a bit of peace.
It’s going to be a great day right? How can it not be? I’m still alive. You’re still alive. We’re still raging against the dying of the light.
I was talking to a dear friend yesterday about PHP, about my personal feeling for the program, desires to do more to help more to make more of a difference. It’s not enough, I want to help more. It feels natural to me. She told me that we’re doing something truly great. I believe that to be true, and I appreciate you all believing in this program, believing in me. There are so many hurting and in fear, and I want to carry that weight for everyone. That’s the Timmy in me, he’s my hero. He carried so much that I never knew about. Just silently made a difference to me and so many others. To give is to receive. To love is human. To see someone as an equal. That is a core value we have here. We have never cared about social status, someone’s monetary value, job title. We don’t have customers here at the deli. It’s a dirty word, to us it feels like if we call you a customer we care about money first, not the person. We call everyone guests, a guest is welcome in our house, a friend, a loved one. Someone we adore, and I deeply adore you. Tim is here everyday, guiding, leading, reminding us what’s possible. Thanks Timmy.
A few days ago I got a call from Sacred Heart, they were emptying out their freezers and had a bit of food they wanted to donate to the program. An hour later they stopped by with a truck full of chips, cookies, bread, meat, cheese, granola, and so much more. People are giving to us to help those in need. I take no credit for them. We are just a middle man. I had nothing to do with the Barn Door giving away 900 meals on Sunday. I had nothing to do with John Hunter giving away pizzas and more to first responders. I had nothing to do with Dina donating donuts every day to PHP. That’s them leading their team, their souls, their desire to help others. But together, we are all making a difference. We are all seeing a need and doing everything we can to make it better. With our own two hands, we can change the world. We are all people helping people.
This was what Timmy wanted.
Today’s quote again comes from my friend Trent. I play him a lot, very very loudly.
See I keep lying to myself
Don't know what else there is to tell
If I could be somebody else
Well I think I would for you
