Last day for tables and chairs outside on our patio.  It’s going to be 74 degrees today, and 47 tomorrow and 42 on Thursday.  So this is it, last chance friends.  Come enjoy while you can, we miss you.

And now for the garbage part of today’s post.  Almost all of our guests have been super understanding of the new name and number policy were rocking down here.  We’re doing everything we can to protect ourselves and our guests, but nothing is perfect.  And contract tracing is simply the way of life right now.   Ask anyone who’s been to Marty’s lately as they just had a guest test positive.  Wouldn’t you want to know and keep your house safe?  Your mom safe?   I would.

So yesterday we had a guest that couldn’t wear a mask for medical reasons.  And then didn’t want to give his name and phone number and gave Brandy a decent amount of grief for doing so.  Complaining.  Discussing their views on contract tracing and the vaccine.  BTW, none of my staff or I have had a vaccine so thanks for really not caring about our safety.  And then when Sophia went to deliver his sandwich, he looked her in the face and asked if she spit in it.

Really.  Are you a child?  Do you need a nap little boy?   Giving a young staff member a hard time to make yourself feel superior?  Asking if we spit in your sandwich because you think it’s clever.  This is a business, run by an amazing crew who has dedicated themselves to being here for our guests in the middle of a very scary time.  This pandemic has hit us and our family.  Our parents.  Our friends.  You have a problem with what we are doing down here, you come to me.  I own the place.  Come spew your anger and ideals at me.   But understand this, inside these four walls I am in charge.  And you can either abide by what we are doing, or you can get out.

So to the guest who thought that rules don’t apply to them.  That it’s okay to debate a young staff member for doing their job and following my directions.  That they can do as they please with no concern for others.  Please don’t come back.  Max and Emily’s is not the restaurant for you.

Today’s lyric is deeply appropriate and comes from my friend Dave Gahan.

It's obvious you hate me

though I've done nothing wrong

I've never even met you

so what I could I have done?

I can't understand

What makes a man hate another man?
