After all this time?   Always.

Welcome to August.  It is August yes, or is it the 747th day of March?  But something cool happens in August, its national sandwich month.  As it turns out, we make sandwiches down here at Max and Emily’s, pretty good ones from what people say.  Maybe you’re craving a Max and Emily’s grilled cheese, or perhaps its breakfast time and you desperately need the Wake Up Call.  The California Girl (created by the great Jessica Wojciechowski), The Fiery Turkinator, or if you’re like Amanda you really want a number 35 the Classic Jim.

There is a sandwich for everyone down here, something we have always strived for.  Timmy and I always wanted to be on the edge of new sandwich ideas and push the conversation, experiment with new items, flavors, dressings and veggies.  I remember we had a fried eggplant sandwich for a summer, that was tasty.  We would read all the latest trends in magazines, head down to Sysco to their test kitchen, and eat out all the time when we travel.  Come back and just try an idea out, just try.  You lose nothing from trying, so we would make it for our friends that come in everyday, make it for the staff.  Over time the menu grew from 20-30 sandwiches back in the early 2000’s, to over 70 now.  And while we have trimmed that down a bit during the pandemic, someday we will be back up at 100%….I miss brisket too, friends.  I’m sorry :(

So in honor of national sandwich month I got a call from my friend Gabriella Galloway over at 9 and 10 News on Friday asking if we wanted to hang out with her Tuesday morning.  As my friend Timmy says “The answer is yes, now what is the question.”  So tomorrow from 5:45-8:45 tune in to 9 and 10 and every half hour they are going to be broadcasting live from the kitchen where she and I will be making some of our favorite sandwiches and discussing what we believe in down here.  I’m sure we will talk about PHP and how that has impacted our community.  We will talk about business in a pandemic environment, the broadcast of the Verve Pipe from inside Max and Emily’s on Thursday.  And sandwiches.  Oh man are we gonna talk about how we love to make sandwiches.

So here is your homework today friends, what sandwich do you want us to feature tomorrow?  We have seven live segments to fill, but if there are some great ideas you all have let’s teamwork this bad boy.  I know Amanda wants me to make a #35, I’m going to make a variation of the Max and Emily’s grilled cheese.  Fiery Turkinator?  Darcy’s Original?  Breakfast on a Bagel?  GREEN EGGS AND HAM?!?  Oh man, I can’t choose.  Please help me.  Post your thoughts down in the comment section and let’s have some fun on the 747th day of the month of March.

Today’s quote comes from my friend Caleb.

Just so you know I was thinking of you.  Just so you know….
